Comprehensive stroke prevention and treatment
The Stroke Clinic at Harborview Medical Center cares for patients with cerebrovascular disease who have suffered a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA) or who are at risk for stroke or TIA.
We focus on primary and secondary stroke prevention, and our goals include reducing the incidence of stroke through identification and control of stroke risk factors, reducing morbidity and mortality of a stroke through emergency care for patients with acute stroke, diagnostic services, treatment options and a comprehensive rehabilitation program.
We treat more than 800 stroke patients annually, and individual care plans are based on an initial evaluation that may include a complete medical history and physical examination, stroke-risk and lifestyle education, and ancillary tests.
