David L. Tirschwell, M.D., M.Sc., is medical director of Comprehensive Stroke Care at the UW Medicine Stroke Center at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle. Dr. Tirschwell specializes in general neurology, stroke and vascular diseases of the brain and nervous system. He has provided care to patients since 1997.
Dr. Tirschwell earned his M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, New York. He earned his M.Sc. in epidemiology and completed his internship in internal medicine, residency in neurology and Stroke Fellowship at the University of Washington, Seattle. He is board-certified in general neurology and vascular neurology.
His clinical interests include general neurology, cerebrovascular disease, stroke prevention and treatment. His research interests include intracerebral hemorrhage, stroke epidemiology, quality of care, clinical trials and outcomes of stroke patients.
Dr. Tirschwell is a UW professor of neurology and program director of the Stroke Fellowship.
Outside of work, Dr. Tirschwell enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, long walks and reading.
