Dr. Karlsen believes in a patient-centered approach to care, using open communication to find tailored plans for each patient and their individual goals. She values education and sees it as a tool to further her own lifelong learning, but also as a way to involve her patients in medical decisions by sharing why and how these options are being presented.

Dr. Karlsen enjoys spending time outdoors and you may run into her snapping a picture of her favorite hiking sandwich at the top of a local PNW peak. She also enjoys cooking, trying to perfect macarons, and skiing.
