Joel D. Kaufman M.D., M.P.H. is a specialist in internal medicine (primary care) and in occupational and environmental medicine. He is a UW professor of medicine, environmental & occupational health sciences, and epidemiology.
Dr. Kaufman earned his bachelor's degree and medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was an internal medicine resident at the Boston City Hospital, and then completed a fellowship (occupational and environmental medicine) and an M.P.H. at the University of Washington.
Dr. Kaufman's clinical interests include
primary care of adults, prevention of cardiovascular disease, and environmental and occupational factors in health--diseases and injuries, allergies and asthma. He is board certified in internal medicine and in preventive (occupational) medicine.
Dr. Kaufman believes doctors and patients need to work together to solve their health problems and it is critically important to work to prevent problems before they occur.
Dr. Kaufman enjoys bicycling, hiking and time with family.
