Brett Schmitz, MD MPH, believes healthcare is a human right, not a commodity from which to profit. In his daily practice, he especially enjoys the personal interactions with patients and being entrusted with their stories. He sees himself as an advocate, teammate, and advisor to his patients, adding his medical training and understanding of the healthcare system to his patients’ knowledge of their bodies to help patients make the best care choices. Dr. Schmitz’s interests in medicine include LGBTQ+ health, wilderness medicine diversity/equity/inclusion issues, public health, social determinants of health, urgent care, mental health, and teaching.
