Biography

Steven T. Lewis, M.D., is a board-certified gastroenterologist who specializes in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, colon cancer prevention, and general clinical gastroenterology. He believes that medical care works best when the patient is a full member of the care team, with a complete understanding of the origin of their medical problem, including its cause and options for treatment. He believes his role as a teacher is as important as his role in planning diagnosis and treatment.

His primary interest has always been direct patient care, but he has contributed to the education of many gastroenterologists through his clinical appointment in the Department of Medicine at the University of Washington.

A member of a large family with its roots in the Pacific Northwest, since completing his medical education at the University of California and the University of Rochester, Dr. Lewis has lived with his family of five children in Seattle.

Dr. Lewis enjoys family time, including traveling and skiing with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is a below average, infrequent golfer, average fisherman and loves politics and cinema.
