Sheila Shaw Weiss, M.S., C.G.C., is a board certified genetic counselor at the Maternal and Infant Care Clinic at UW Medical Center and the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic at Arlington.

Weiss’ philosophy as a prenatal genetic counselor is to provide patients with relevant information to enable them to make the most informed decision possible regarding their childbearing. She strives to help them understand their genetic risk factors, and the purpose, risks, benefits and limitations of prenatal screening and diagnostic procedures.

Weiss received her medical education at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, the first and largest human genetics and genetic counseling graduate program in the country. Her clinical and research interests include biochemical genetic disorders, mental retardation and autism syndromes.
