Shane Ruter, M.D., is a board certified physician in the Emergency Department at Harborview Medical Center and a UW instructor of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Ruter is passionate about caring for a diverse patient population, regardless of access to care. His personal philosophy is the same as the institution where he trained: Exceptional Care Without Exception.
Dr. Ruter earned his M.D. from Brown University. After staying at Brown to fulfill his preliminary year of residency, Dr. Ruter moved to Boston where he completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Boston Medical Center. He joined the faculty at UW Medicine in 2011.
Dr. Ruter’s clinical and research interests include resident and medical student education and quality review.
In his free time Dr. Ruter enjoys running, golfing and traveling.
