Kari Keys, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and a UW Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Keys’ clinical expertise is in reconstruction of the trunk and extremities after trauma, infection, surgical complications, or cancer. Dr. Keys collaborates with surgeons from Urology, Orthopedics, Burn Surgery, Neurosurgery and Trauma Surgery to provide comprehensive care and reconstructive solutions to complex problems. Outside of her wound practice, Dr. Keys also performs panniculectomies for excess abdominal tissue interfering with life activities, as well as hidradenitis and scar reduction surgery.

She believes the best care begins with listening. Complex reconstructive surgeries have deep effects on every aspect of a patient's life. Her job is to restore both form and function to the highest possible degree. 

Dr. Keys’ research focuses on the clinical outcomes of reconstructive surgery, particularly of the lower extremity. Dr. Keys has also published in the areas of pressure sores and necrotizing fasciitis populations. Her newest research is in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and standardization of care through quality improvement. Dr. Keys is also deeply involved in mentoring and direct teaching and curriculum development for medical residents.
