Daniel Kim, MD, is a board-certified surgeon and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington.

Dr. Kim’s clinical practice focuses on hernia repairs, emergency general surgery, soft tissue tumors, gallbladder disorders, infections and benign anorectal disease. He specializes in laparoscopic and open surgery. Dr. Kim believes that great patient care requires a team of people who care deeply about the patient’s well-being. The patient and physician are a small part of the whole and rely on many others for the best possible result. He feels that when patients and doctors are honest and caring of each other, it makes the team effort stronger and more efficient.

Dr. Kim scholarly interests are in improving surgical care and reducing complications and cost. He has served as UW’s Surgeon Champion for the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) since 2017, which compares national data to achieve these aims.
