Avery Weiss, M.D., is a board certified Ophthalmologist, chief of Ophthalmology at Seattle Children’s Hospital and a UW professor of Ophthalmology and an adjunct professor of Pediatrics.

Dr. Weiss’ goal is to optimize the care of each patient by investigating the problem and recommending treatment based on the best available scientific evidence.

Dr. Weiss earned his M.D. at the University of Miami. He served on the editorial board of EyeNet, official journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has published 90 papers and book chapters, and he has been a reviewer for 18 journals. His clinical and research interests include visual disorders, eye movement abnormalities, cataract and glaucoma, visual cortical function in infants with optic nerve and brain malformations and development of retinal imaging techniques to study congenital and genetic retinal diseases.
