Dr. Koirala is a board certified nephrologist and acting instructor in the Division of Nephrology.
Dr. Koirala is currently doing bench research in understanding the factors involved in maintaining the integrity of filters of the kidneys (glomeruli) in health and disease states.
Dr. Koirala is from Kathmandu, Nepal. He earned his bachelor’s degree in medicine & surgery (MBBS) from King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan in 2008. Between 12/2009-3/2011, he worked as research assistant in Multiple Myeloma in the Division of Hematology/ Oncology at Weill Cornell Medical College, NYC. He joined Saint Francis Hospital of Evanston, IL as an intern and resident in internal medicine (6/2011-6/2014). He then worked as an academic hospitalist at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA from 6/2014-6/2016. He then moved to Seattle for Nephrology Fellowship, which he completed in 6/2018.
Dr. Koirala is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology and is an active member of American Society of Nephrology.
In his free time, Dr. Koirala enjoys running, mindfulness meditation, hiking, and reading.
