​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Emergency Department at Harborview Medical Center in downtown Seattle provides emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is staffed and equipped to deal with all urgent and emergent problems. Harborview Medical Center is the only designated Level I trauma and burn center for adult and pediatric patients in Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho (WAMI).* 

At the Emergency Department at Harborview, emergency physicians, anesthesiologists and pain medicine specialists, surgeons, surgical specialists, nurses and social workers are on campus 24 hours per day with additional specialists on call for ready availability. Harborview provides comprehensive care from emergency resuscitation through intensive care to rehabilitation after illness or injury. 

Harborview Medical Center is a teaching hospital. Medical students and/or residents will be involved in your care and will be directly supervised by our faculty physicians. Our nurses, social workers, physical therapists and nurse practitioners are also an essential part of the team that cares for you. 

* Level I designation is the highest national recognition possible. To earn this distinction, a trauma center must meet stringent standards determined by the Washington State Department of Health to ensure that facilities have the resources and expertise to provide the best care possible for seriously ill or injured patients 24 hours per day, seven days per week. ​​​​

Urgent Care

At UW Medicine ​Urgent Care clinics, immediate care is available on a walk-in basis. When your primary care clinic is closed, an Urgent Care c​linic can provide attention for the sudden onset of non-life-threatening problems or issues that could become worse​ without treatment​. Our Urgent Care clinics are open for extended evening hours and weekends. Walk-in patients welcome at all locations​.​

Virtual Clinic

UW Medicine Virtual Clinic brings healthcare to you and your family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without an appointment. Care Simple Providers' board-certified family practice physicians and nurse practitioners assess, diagnose and recommend treatment for your condition via secure video chat or over the phone. ​
