Dr. Thuan Ong practices primary care and consultative geriatrics in inpatient and outpatient settings. He focuses on promoting a healthy lifestyle among older adults. As an assistant professor in UW's Division of Gerontology & Geriatric Medicine, he also educates other health professionals to be competent in the care of older adults.
He received his medical degree from Saint Louis University, completed internal medicine residency at the University of California, Davis, and completed a geriatric-medicine fellowship at UW. He is a Geriatric Academic Career Awardee of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration, and a medical director for Providence Hospice of Seattle.
His research focus is to develop methods and tools to assess learners' competency in providing care to the aging population. He teaches medical students, internal medicine residents, and geriatric medicine fellows.
