Bio

Dr. Arbabi is a UW professor of surgery in the Division of Trauma, Burns and Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center. After receiving his medical degree from the University of California at Davis in 1992, he completed his residency training in general surgery from the University of Washington. He also completed a two-year fellowship program in trauma and surgical critical care, and is board-certified in surgery and surgical critical care.

Dr. Arbabi has mentored several surgical resident and clinical scientists in the art and science of medicine.

Research Interests

Dr. Arbabi served as the National Institutes of Health research fellow at the University of Washington investigating inflammatory cell response from 1997-1999. Later he continued his formal education in the field of epidemiology at the University of Washington, where he obtained his master's degree in public health.

Currently, he is an NIH-funded investigator and is active in laboratory and clinical research at Harborview Medical Center. In addition, he is the acute care section head at the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center.

His research interests include inflammatory cell signaling in burn injury, wound healing, surgical infections, critical care medicine, injury prevention and surgical outcomes studies.
