Patient Care Philosophy

My medical career is based on actively caring for those patients who are at their most vulnerable, as a result of trauma or severe disease, and critically need our help. Our mission at Harborview allows me to engage daily with a highly professional team of healthcare providers who share that aim. Nothing excites me more than seeing critically ill patients be stabilized and treated in the operating rooms, and then the brain-injured patient being able to leave the ICU, on the path to recovery.

Personal Interests

I am a qualified private pilot and keen scuba diver, certified as a divemaster (mixed gases, rebreathers). I greatly enjoy nearly all forms of music. I am an avid reader of most forms of literature (excluding biographies).

Clinical Interests

Clinical research in traumatic brain injury and subarachnoid hemorrhage, critical care and anesthesia of brain and spine injury, trauma system organization, brain death and management of the organ donor.

Research Interests

Critical brain injury and its effect upon organ systems and their function.
