Bio

Dr. Humphreys joined the University of Washington Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in 2015. He is currently a UW assistant professor within the Department of Otolaryngology and a member of the Division of Rhinology & Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery. He has specialized training and expertise in treating chronic inflammatory diseases of the nose and sinuses, smell disorders, nose bleeds, nasal breathing and sinonasal tumors.



Dr. Humphreys attended the University of Pittsburgh then performed basic and translational research at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. He earned his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine where he graduate with summa cum laude and Psi Sigma Alpha distinctions. He completed a residency in otolaryngology - head & neck surgery at Michigan State University's Detroit Medical Center campus where he also served as chief resident. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery at Stanford University.

Patient Care Philosophy

It is truly an honor and gift to partner with patients on their journey of health. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to work with patients to optimize the health of their nose and sinuses. I utilize contemporary and cutting edge treatment options, and I collaborate with allergists and neurosurgeons to provide comprehensive rhinology care. As a physician educator and clinical researcher, I feel privileged to train the next generation of physician leaders and academicians.

Personal Interests

Dr. Humphreys is originally from Pennsylvania and is excited to call Washington his new home. He has a passion for humanitarian medical care and has served in locations such as the American Southwest, Nigeria and Cambodia. He is married and enjoys travel, hiking, mountaineering and boating.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Humphreys has specialized training and expertise in the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders of the nose and sinuses (e.g. sinusitis), nasal obstruction, nose bleeds, smell disorders, as well as sinonasal tumors that are both benign and cancerous.

Research Interests

Dr. Humphreys is interested in clinical outcomes and quality of life in chronic sinus disease as well as the development of novel therapeutic treatment options. Currently, he is collaborating with colleagues at Stanford University on several research studies.
