Vascular and Interventional Radiology Treatments for Vascular Malformations
Interventional radiologists offer several treatments to restore normal blood and lymph fluid flow in abnormal vessels.
Vascular malformations and vascular anomaly treatment
Vascular malformations occur when the body’s arteries, veins and/or lymphatic vessels do not allow blood or lymph fluid to flow properly. Depending on the malformation’s location in the body and your symptoms, interventional radiologists offer a variety of minimally invasive procedures. Treatment of vascular malformations includes image-guided procedures such as embolization (blocking) or sclerotherapy (scarring). These treatments close abnormal vessels and redirect the blood/lymph flow through normal routes.
Our interventional radiologists provide expert care even for rare vascular anomalies such as Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT, also known as Osler-Weber-Rendu Syndrome) and Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome. We run a dedicated vascular anomaly clinic with a team of physicians, clinicians and staff to provide comprehensive support.
