What is an MFM specialist?

Maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) specialists are also called perinatologists. They are obstetricians with advanced training and expertise to treat complications during pregnancy. These conditions may involve you, your baby or both. Some pregnancies require full-spectrum care and delivery with an MFM specialist. Others may develop complications, and your obstetrician may refer you to an MFM specialist for consultation.
