One of the most common questions sports medicine providers answer is “When can I get back on the field?” Or in the gym, in the pool, or on the road. We understand how important your sport or activity is to you, because we’re active ourselves.
The sports medicine providers at UW Medicine can help you meet both your short- and long-term goals, return you to doing what you love, and reduce your risk for future injury.
Here’s how it works: When you come in with an injury, a healthcare professional will evaluate you and then customize a treatment plan based on your history, as well as your goals. The first step is managing your pain and diagnosing the cause of the injury. Once we move past that initial phase, your physician may want to start you in physical therapy or rehab to address the biomechanical factors that could have contributed to your injury — or even resulted from your injury.
Our multidisciplinary approach focuses on treating your current injury, but also working to prevent future problems, using all the state-of-the-art therapeutic services available at UW Medicine.
