Improving your sight is our mission and our passion. Our professional staff are members of the
UW Medicine Eye Institute, one of the Pacific Northwest’s largest and most respected ophthalmology groups.
Dr. James Toop, our staff optometrist, performs complete eye exams, refractions and contact lens fittings. He has practiced in Seattle since 1989, prescribing corrective lenses for thousands of people. Dr. Toop was one of just three optometrists recognized by
Seattle Metropolitan magazine in its
“Top Doctors 2009” issue.
Dr. Toop specializes in fitting contact lenses for all refractive errors, including large degrees of astigmatism. He is also expert at fitting contact lenses for unusual eye diseases.
Dr. Claire Angel believes compassion and individual attention are critical in providing patients with highest standards of comprehensive optometric eye care. Dr. Angel believes in giving patients a thorough explanation and providing them with the tools to be proactive in their care. She feels fortunate to work with an outstanding team at the UW that synchronizes care to provide patients with a seamless experience.
Dr. Tiffany Hollenbeck is a UW teaching associate and optometrist who practices at Eyes on James Optical Shop and the UW Neighborhood Clinics. Prior to joining UW Medicine as a teaching associate in 2013, Dr. Hollenbeck worked in private optometry and ophthalmology practices for 10 years. After working in a group practice, Dr. Hollenbeck built a private clinic in Redmond, Washington, working largely with primary care and contact lenses. She then sold her clinic and relocated to Hawaii, finally returning to her home state of Minnesota. She has worked closely with cataract surgeons while in each state focusing on the health of the anterior portion of the eye and general ocular examinations.
Dr. Nancy Ross Anibarro joined the University of Washington as a teaching associate in 2006. She received her optometric education at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Ore. Her scope of care includes comprehensive primary eye care which includes annual eye examinations, baseline dilated fundus exam for patients diagnosed with systemic diseases and evaluation, treatment or appropriate referrals for urgent eye problems. Dr. Ross Anibarro has extensive experience in working closely with ophthalmologists in the management of LASIK and cataract patients.
Dr. Susan Dini provides routine eye exams, contact lens fitting and eye health exams for issues such as allergy eyes, dry eyes and eye infections. Her expertise also includes computer vision syndrome (CVS), mTBI visual sequels and screenings for medical conditions such as cataract, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other retinal issues. Dr. Dini is a Washington native and UW alumni who joined the UWP team May 2016. She has practiced in many clinical settings including hospital settings, private eye clinics, commercial optical and health maintenance organizations. Dr. Dini is a UW acting instructor.
Lisa, our licensed optician, will help you find frames that match your desires and fit you well. She educates customers about available options such as transitional lenses – we offer the most up-to-date technology available – and UV protection. For eyeglasses or contact lenses, if something isn’t quite right, they will make the adjustments you need to be comfortable and to see your best.
Amor is our ophthalmic technician. She works with our providers, taking patient histories and initial refractive measurements, and teaching patients how to wear contact lenses. She is eager to ensure that wearers of contact lenses, particularly children and first-timer adults, have a good experience.
Tim and Lina, our Licensed Opticians, will help you find frames that match your desires and fit you well. There are many new eyeglass lens designs and technologies that our Opticians can discuss with you to help eliminate glare and sharpen vision for computer screens.
Ramona, our patient-services representative, will check you in and help you understand your insurance coverage.
