About Western Washington WWAMI
Based in Olympia, WA, Western Washington WWAMI encompasses the area of Washington State west of the Cascade Mountains, from Lynden/Birch Bay at the Canadian border to Vancouver at the Oregon border, excluding the greater Seattle area.
The mountains-to-the-sea region offers unique learning opportunities in both urban and rural communities. In addition to required and elective clerkships outside of Seattle, Western Washington WWAMI oversees the WRITE (WWAMI Rural Integrated Training Experience) program for medical students, in Ferndale, Lynden, Port Angeles, and Port Townsend, Washington, and the Olympia LIC (longitudinal integrated clerkship) experience–an 11-month integrated clerkship that includes all third-year required clerkships plus a two-week Palliative Care clinical elective.
