Annual Ceremony & Service

Honoring members of the Willed Body Program

Many WBP donors choose to be buried through the Willed Body Program. These donors are buried at Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park, located in north Seattle. Each year (usually in the fall), a memorial service is held at the Evergreen Washelli chapel, with speakers from the University of Washington medical and professional schools, including student representatives. Family members are also given the opportunity to speak about their loved ones at this service. Following the service, everyone is invited to one of several lovely group burial sites where individual urns are placed. The site includes an engraved stone honoring our donors.

Inscription Reads: University of Washington, School of Medicine – In dedication to those who have donated their remains for the advancement of medical science and education.

Some families choose to engrave the name of their loved on the plaque – this can be arranged independently through Evergreen Washelli when studies are completed.

Records of our body donors are maintained at the University of Washington; Evergreen Washelli does not keep these records.
