Research activities at UW Medicine are extremely broad and varied, including extensive international research and numerous collaborative relationships. UW Medicine's research facilities are primarily based at three sites:
UW Campus, Health Sciences Building
The Health Sciences Building is located on the southern edge of the University of Washington Seattle campus and is part of the University of Washington Medical Center complex. This is the historic home of the School of Medicine and its sister schools in the Health Sciences and is the starting point for many of its research programs.
The Health Science Express and South Lake Union Shuttle provide transportation to and from the Health Sciences building.
Harborview Medical Center
Harborview Medical Center, located on First Hill near downtown Seattle, houses a growing number of research programs associated with Harborview Medical Center's clinical services. Through interdisciplinary research conducted at state-of-the-art facilities, Harborview Medical Center physicians and research scientists work collaboratively to advance patient care in crucial areas. UW Medicine at South Lake Union
The UW Medicine at South Lake Union research site is located at the southern tip of Lake Union, just north of downtown Seattle and a short three miles from the main UW campus by shuttle. As the most recent expansion of UW Medicine Research, this site fosters research collaborations by offering a modern research environment that is home to numerous collaborative research teams.
The South Lake Union Shuttle provides transportation to and from UW Medicine at South Lake Union.
