Neurodegeneration / BRaIN Lab

The UW Medicine Biorepository and Integrated Research (BRaIN) laboratory, led by C. Dirk Keene, MD, PhD, is working to perform and support research to understand normal brain anatomy and function and how this changes in injury and disease, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and others.

Retrovirology Lab

The goal of the Retrovirology Lab is to understand viruses – how they are transmitted, how they evolve, and how they affect their hosts, using a wide range of techniques including next-generation sequencing, culture models and screens, and biochemical/biophysical characterization of viral gene products. The lab’s research is tightly integrated with the clinical laboratories of the University of Washington Medical Center.

The Sepsis Center of Research Excellence (SCORE) is a collaborative medical research center focused on sepsis translational science.
