UW Medicine Visitor Policy

UW Medicine’s patient care philosophy recognizes the importance of engaging families in the healing process. However, at times, visitation may be limited for the safety of patients, staff and our community. Please check below for current policies at each hospital.

General guidelines

Most patients may have up to 2 visitors at a time, subject to each hospital's guidelines and visitation hours.

All visitors must follow current masking and infection prevention requirements. Masking is strongly encouraged.

Visitors should not have new respiratory symptoms within the last 10 days.

Health & safety requirements

To help protect patients, staff and our community, please follow these health and safety guidelines:

If you have new respiratory symptoms

Do not visit if you’ve had new respiratory-like symptoms (like cough, sore throat, or fever) in the past 10 days.

If you have tested positive for COVID-19

You may visit only if:

  • It’s been at least 10 days since symptoms began
  • You’ve been fever-free for 24 hours (without fever-reducing medication)
