Health Insurance Plan Changes for 2026
We understand how important it is to retain in-network access to the doctors, programs and expert care teams you know and trust. UW Medicine hopes to remain your healthcare partner.
During open enrollment, you may need to select a different health insurance plan to have in-network coverage at UW Medicine. The following plans will not include UW Medicine in 2026.
- Washington Health Insurance Exchange plans with Regence BlueShield of Washington
- Medicare Advantage plans with Humana, PacificSource and Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup)
UW Medicine includes services provided at these locations: Harborview Medical Center; UW Medical Center – Northwest; UW Medical Center – Montlake; UW Medicine Primary Care; and UW Physicians including professional services provided at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
Please refer to the information on this page to understand what is changing and your options for selecting a different plan during open enrollment.
Washington Health Exchange Plans
What Is Changing: UW Medicine will not be included in the Washington Health Insurance Exchange plans that Regence BlueShield of Washington is offering for 2026, including BridgeSpan Health. These plans are offered on Washington’s Health Insurance Exchange under the Affordable Care Act.
If you remain on these plans and receive care at UW Medicine in 2026, you will be responsible for the entire cost of the services provided.

These plans are offered by Community Health Plan of Washington (authorized specialty care only), Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington (authorized specialty care only), Molina Healthcare of Washington, Premera Blue Cross, and United Healthcare of Oregon.
The deadline to select a different Health Insurance Exchange plan is Jan. 15, 2026.

- Your coverage will begin on Feb. 1, 2026, if you enroll in a new plan between Dec. 16, 2025, and Jan. 15, 2026.

Medicare Advantage Plans
What Is Changing: UW Medicine is contracted with a variety of Medicare Advantage Plans in 2026. However, UW Medicine will no longer be contracted with Humana, Pacific Source and Wellpoint (formerly Amerigroup). If you choose to remain on these plans, you should be prepared to pay a higher out-of-pocket amount because services at UW Medicine may be considered out-of-network by your plan.
Open Enrollment: During open enrollment, you can select an insurance plan that provides in-network coverage at UW Medicine. Please refer to the Medicare Advantage 2026 on the Insurance and Coverage web page to see the list of available plans.
The deadline to select a different Medicare Advantage plan is December 7, 2025.
