The University of Washington Giant Cell Arteritis Fast Track Clinic was developed to quickly evaluate patients suspected of having GCA. This will allow for a rapid diagnosis and coordination of care with the goal of reducing the risk of blindness. The UW Division of Rheumatology and the UW Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Department are collaborating to offer diagnostic services to be scheduled by the next business day.
In order to refer a patient to the UW GCA Fast track clinic, call the hotline: 206.597.4700.
UW rheumatology faculty will respond, make initial recommendations regarding corticosteroid treatment and initiate a rheumatology consultation, a vascular ultrasound and a temporal artery biopsy.
These appointments will be scheduled at the UW Medical Centers Seattle campuses.
Follow up care:
Follow up care may be scheduled with the UW Rheumatology clinic or a rheumatologist outside of the University of Washington if this is more convenient for subsequent appointments.
