Clinic Overview
Life-changing cardiac rehabilitation in a state-of-the-art facility
The Cardiac Fitness Center is a contemporary, well-equipped facility that hosts Northwest Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, which helps support recovery for cardiac patients, reduce risk for further cardiovascular disease, and increase overall health, fitness and well-being.
Northwest Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has operated for 20 years. The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and is staffed by a medically-trained, multidisciplinary team of nurses, exercise physiologists and dietitians, with oversight by a board-certified cardiologist.
Located in the McMurray Building on the Northwest Hospital campus, the Cardiac Fitness Center is outfitted with state-of-the-art monitoring devices, the latest exercise equipment, and dressing rooms with lockers and showers.
Patients enrolled in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program participate in exercise sessions supervised by critical care nurses and exercise physiologists specializing in cardiac rehabilitation. Exercise classes are conducted with treadmills and stationary bicycles, as well as hand weights, yoga balls, and other stretching and toning equipment. A cardiologist is on call during all sessions.
In addition to exercise, educational classes provide patients with information they need to reduce cardiac risk factors and make lasting lifestyle changes. A referral from a physician is required for enrollment in the program.
