Xenia Averkiou, M.S., R.D., C.D., C.D.E., is a certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian at the Endocrine and Diabetes Care Center at UWMC-Roosevelt.

Averkiou is passionate for diabetes education and lives with type 1 diabetes herself. She believes that diabetes education must be individualized based on the patient's personal needs, beliefs, and cultural background and that patients must be empowered to take control of their diabetes. She believes that patients are at different stages of readiness for change, whether is health management or meal planning and she is there to support them at each stage.

 Averkiou received her medical education at the UW and the University of Houston. Her clinical interests include the areas of celiac disease and other gastrointestinal conditions.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Averkiou enjoys dancing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
