About Steven Saraf
Steven Saraf, MD, is an ophthalmologist who specializes in retina, uveitis, and vitreoretinal surgery. Dr. Saraf aims to provide medical and surgical care for complex conditions in retina including retinal detachments, ocular trauma, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy, and retinal vascular occlusions. He is passionate about providing complete care for uveitis patients, including applying innovative tools in diagnosis, offering the latest immunomodulatory therapies, and providing surgical interventions for inflammatory eye conditions. Dr. Saraf manages a wide array of inflammatory eye conditions including anterior uveitis, intermediate uveitis, panuveitis, Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome, birdshot chorioretinopathy, serpiginous choroidopathy, multifocal choroiditis, infectious uveitis, among others.
Dr. Saraf is an assistant professor for UW Medicine. His research interests include advanced retinal imaging modalities, advanced diagnostic testing in uveitis, and vision restoration techniques in retinal degenerations. Dr. Saraf is the winner of multiple teaching awards and is passionate about resident and fellow education. He participates in multiple medical training programs at University of Washington.
He completed two ophthalmology fellowships, the first in uveitis at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida, and the second in retina and vitreoretinal surgery at University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He obtained his medical degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and bachelor’s degree at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
