Stephan Fihn, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, UW’s chief of General Internal Medicine and a UW professor of General Internal Medicine and Health Services. Dr. Fihn also serves as director of the Office of Analytics and Business Intelligence in the Veterans Health Administration.

Dr. Fihn strives to create active partnerships with his patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Fihn earned his M.D. at St. Louis University and his M.P.H. at the UW. He is active in the Society of General Internal Medicine (past-president), the American College of Physicians, American Heart Association and AcademyHealth. He received the Robert J. Glaser Award and the Department of Veteran Affairs Undersecretary’s Award. He has published 300 scientific articles and book chapters and co-edited two editions of Outpatient Medicine.

In his free time Dr. Fihn enjoys alpine touring, cycling and swimming.
