Dr. Sandra "Sunny" Juul, M.D., Ph.D., is a board certified physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the NICU at UWMC, UW Medicine’s chief of Neonatology, the UW’s Alan Hodson Endowed Chair in Pediatrics and a UW professor of Pediatrics.

Dr. Juul leads a translational neonatal neuroscience research program. She strives to create active partnerships with her patients and their families to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Juul earned her M.D. at the UW and her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. She is board certified in both Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine and Pediatrics. Her research focus is to identify new therapeutic approaches to neonatal brain injury, determine whether they are safe and effective, and if so, bring these new treatments from the laboratory to the bedside.
