About Samuel P. Mandell
Samuel Mandell, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S., is a surgeon at
Harborview Medical Center and a UW assistant professor in Trauma, Critical Care and Burn Surgery.
Dr. Mandell
works with a multidisciplinary team to care for critically injured trauma and burn patients. He believes that medicine is best practiced as a team, and the most important member of the team is the patient. His first priority is listening to patients and their loved ones to better understand their hopes and needs. After gaining this perspective, Dr. Mandell works with patients and hospital staff to provide the best, evidence-based care options.
Dr. Mandell earned his M.D. from the University of Massachusetts and his M.P.H. from the UW. He has clinical expertise in emergency and general surgery, care of burned patients and management of critically injured patients.
Personal Interests
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Mandell enjoys spending time with his wife and sons, cooking, hiking, sailing and photography.
