Ramachandra G. Naik, MD, DM, DNB is a board-certified endocrinologist at the UW Medicine Diabetes Institute and a UW Professor of Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition. He also serves as the Director of Diabetes Clinical Innovation.
He specializes in endocrinology, and sees patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, lipid disorders, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone disease, and adrenal and pituitary problems. He brings over three decades of global institutional experience in patient care, clinical research and teaching, in both academic and private practice settings, and in drug and device development and medical affairs in biopharmaceutical industry.
Dr. Naik joined UW in December 2019. He earned his endocrinology certifications (D.M., Endocrinology, 1993, and Diplomate of National Boards, Endocrinology, 1993) from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India, and later pursued an additional endocrinology fellowship at UW. Over the subsequent years, Dr. Naik held faculty appointments and served as an Attending Physician at Bombay Hospital in Mumbai, University of Colorado Denver, University of Pennsylvania, and SUNY Upstate Medical University. He spent 8 years of his career in the pharmaceutical industry providing clinical and executive leadership in global drug and device development in diabetes/endocrinology at Novartis, Merck, and Johnson & Johnson Diabetes Care Companies.
