Rachel Thompson, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician at the Medicine Consult and Pre-Op Clinic at UW Medical Center, founder and director of the Harborview Medicine Operative Consult Service and a UW associate professor of Medicine. 

Dr. Thompson is dedicated to improving the care of patients’ medical conditions at the time of surgery and to utilizing this high-value time to engage, educate and intervene in order to strengthen patients’ overall and long-term health.

Dr. Thompson earned her M.D. and M.P.H. at the UW. She presents regionally and nationally on the care of medical conditions in the surgical setting. She serves as the president of the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Society of Hospital Medicine and was a inducted as a fellow with the inaugural class of fellows in hospital medicine in 2009.
