About Rachel B. Salit
Rachel Salit, M.D., is a board certified hematology oncologist at UW Medical Center and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and a member of the UW Medicine's Umbilical Cord Blood Transplant (UCBT) research program.
As a member of the UCBT team, the goal of Dr. Salit's research is to improve the long-term outcomes of UCBT in patients with hematologic malignancies. She strives to create active partnerships with her patients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Salit earned her M.D. from Loyola University. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology. Her research concentrates on adults who are receiving reduced-intensity conditioning regimens. She is looking at ways to reduce infections, prevent graft-versus-host disease, decrease relapse and improve long-term quality of life. She is also trying to extend cord blood as a donor source to patients with myeloproliferative diseases such as myelofibrosis.
