Rachel Bender Ignacio, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician at UW Medical Center and Harborview and a UW acting assistant professor of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Bender Ignacio is an infectious diseases specialist who focuses on HIV. She believes that every person deserves excellent care, no matter who they are. She strives to pay attention to the little details that can change someone's experience with health care. She likes to work together with patients to help them learn how to participate in improving their own health.

Dr. Bender Ignacio earned her M.D. and M.P.H. at the UW. Her clinical interests include prevention of HIV infection, treatment of HIV, management of complex infections and infections in recipients of organ transplants. Her research interests include clinical research in HIV, global health, HIV and the immune system, HIV and tuberculosis co-infection, herpes virus infections and HIV-associated cancers.

Personal Interests

Dr. Bender Ignacio loves to travel and do anything outdoors, especially with her husband and two daughters. She is an avid ultimate frisbee player, nordic skier and practitioner of yoga.
