About Patricia Kathleen Oakes

Patricia Oakes, M.D., is a board certified neurologist at the Neurology Clinic at UW Medical Center, residency director for UW Neurology and a UW assistant professor of Neurology.

Dr. Oakes sees patients who have a wide range of neurologic conditions, including movement disorders, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases and dementia. She believes it is important to listen carefully to a patient's history and concerns, think broadly about the cause of their neurologic problems, and tailor treatment to the needs and values of the individual patient.

Dr. Oakes earned her M.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Her clinical interests include Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders, cerebrovascular disease and epilepsy. Her research interests include resident education, medical ethics and medical-legal matters.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Dr. Oakes enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the outdoors, hiking, sailing, cross-country skiing, clamming and tide-pooling.
