Nicholas Pete Poolos M.D., Ph.D., is the associate director of the UW Medicine Regional Epilepsy Center. Dr. Poolos is a board-certified neurologist who specializes in epilepsy.
Dr. Poolos earned his M.D. and Ph. D. in neuroscience from Stanford University, California. He completed his residency at Harvard Longwood Neurology Program, Boston, Massachusetts, and his postdoctoral fellowship in cellular neurophysiology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
Dr. Poolos has concentrated his research in cellular neurophysiology with an emphasis on cellular and molecular causes of epilepsy with the goal of identifying novel targets for antiepileptic drug development.
Dr. Poolos is an associate professor of neurology at the University of Washington, Seattle. Before joining the UW faculty, he was an instructor in neurology and neuroscience at Baylor. He is also the chair of the professional advisory board of the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest.
