About Michael J. Souter
Michael Souter, M.B., Ch.B., D.A., F.R.C.A., F.N.C.S., is a board certified anesthesiologist and chief of Anesthesia and medical director and co-founder of the Neurocritical Care Service at Harborview. He is also a UW professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine and adjunct professor of Neurological Surgery.
Nothing excites Dr. Souter more than seeing critically ill patients stabilized and treated in the operating rooms, and then being able to leave the ICU on the path to recovery.
Dr. Souter received his medical education at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the Neurocritical Care Society. He has special interests and expertise in anesthesia for, and care of, critically ill patients—especially involving the brain.
Personal Interests
Dr. Souter is a private pilot and scuba diver, certified as a divemaster. He greatly enjoys nearly all forms of music. He is an avid reader of most forms of literature (excluding biographies).
