About Michael W. Schwartz
Michael Schwartz, M.D., is a board certified physician and the founding director of the UW Medicine Diabetes and Obesity Center of Excellence. He is the UW’s Robert H. Williams Endowed Chair in Medicine and a UW professor of Medicine, Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, and an adjunct professor of Pathology.
Dr. Schwartz’s goal is to employ a deep understanding physiology to deduce the pathophysiological basis of disease.
Dr. Schwartz earned his M.D. from Rush Medical College. He is board certified in both Metabolism/Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Association of American Physicians, the Western Association of Physicians and the American Society for Clinical Investigation, is the recipient of awards for mentorship and diabetes research, and is an editorial member of the Journal of Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Physiology and other publications.
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Schwartz enjoys songwriting, recording and performance of original music.
