About Matthew Rivara
Matthew Rivara, M.D., is a board certified physician at the Kidney Clinic and Hypertension Clinic at Harborview and a UW assistant professor of Nephrology. He is also an investigator at the UW Kidney Research Institute.
Dr. Rivara’s model of patient care focuses on working to empower patients and their families to feel that they are the primary drivers of their care and overall health. He works tirelessly to personalize the care provided to each patient to best meet their needs.
Dr. Rivara earned his M.D. from Harvard. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and is certified as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension. He has authored articles on a variety of topics related to kidney disease. His primary areas of research include improving outcomes for patients transitioning to and undergoing dialysis treatment.
