About Matthew R. Golden
Matthew Golden, M.D., M.P.H., is a board certified physician at the Madison and Seattle & King County STD Public Health Clinics at Harborview and a UW professor of Medicine and Allergy and Infectious Diseases and an adjunct professor of Epidemiology. He is also the director of the Public Health — Seattle & King County HIV/STD Program.
Over the course of his medical career, Dr. Golen has seen HIV change from an untreatable, often fatal infectious disease to a medical problem that shouldn’t have to kill anyone. Witnessing that change has been an extraordinary privilege.
Dr. Golden earned his M.D. and M.P.H. at Johns Hopkins. His primary clinical interests are in the treatment of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Dr. Golden’s research focuses on the public health efforts to prevent and control HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
