Mark Whipple, M.D., M.S., is a board certified physician at the Head and Neck Surgery Clinic at Harborview. He is also assistant dean of the UW School of Medicine and a UW associate professor of Head and Neck Surgery and Biomedical Informatics and Medical Education.

Dr. Whipple feels privileged to practice at Harborview and teach at the UW. He feels fortunate to work with dedicated and talented colleagues, students and collaborators to bring the highest quality of care, compassion and innovation to the community.

Dr. Whipple earned his M.D. from the UW. His research has focused on informatics approaches to better understand the development and metastasis of head and neck neoplasms. Specific efforts include developing algorithms to identify tumor biomarkers, genomic and microRNA analyses and computational models of tumor spread.

Personal Interests

In his free time Dr. Whipple enjoys skiing, computers, home renovation and spending time with his wife and three children.
