The main thing that brought Mark Erickson to UW is the connection he makes with patients. He believes it is especially important in cancer care because people are vulnerable and experience a significant paradigm shift with their emotions. Unique relationships can truly be established. Mark enjoys talking to people and believes patients are their greatest teachers.
Of course, he wants it to be a great experience for the patients, and he also wants to establish a collegial environment with everyone he works with. He thinks patients feel that culture when they walk in, so he is motivated to cultivate a collaborative atmosphere.
