Bio
Dr. Derleth is a board-certified physician in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He sees patients in clinic and performs procedures at both the UW Eastside Specialties Center in Bellevue (his primary site) and the UW Medical Center in Seattle.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, he grew up in Edmonds, WA, and then Wenatchee, WA. He did his undergraduate education at University of Washington, completing a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature as well as his pre-medical curriculum. He earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. He subsequently returned to Seattle where he completed his Residency in Internal Medicine, Chief Residency, and Fellowship in Gastroenterology, all at the UW. He joined the faculty in the UW Division of Gastroenterology in 2013.
Patient Care Philosophy
I believe that good communication is a crucial part of providing good care to patients. I strive to understand my patients’ concerns and expectations so that I can best assist them.
Personal Interests
Music (I am a guitarist and singer, mostly performing for my family these days), being outdoors, hiking, camping, skiing, biking, and swimming.

General Gastroenterology, including Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) ; Dyspepsia and Abdominal Pain; Diarrhea and Constipation; Colon Cancer Screening; Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) ; GI Bleeding Iron Deficiency Anemia
