About Marco B. Mielcarek
Marco Mielcarek, M.D., Ph.D., is an oncologist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and UW Medical Center and a UW professor of Oncology and Medicine.
Dr. Mielcarek cares for patients who receive stem cell transplants for treatment of hematologic cancers. He believes that individualizing treatment according to the patient's needs and philosophy combined with incorporating up-to-date research knowledge are key ingredients for excellent patient care.
Dr. Mielcarek earned his M.D. and Ph.D. at the Free University of Berlin. His research interest is in optimizing prevention and treatment of graft-versus-host disease. This involves designing and leading clinical trials, developing new strategies in pre-clinical models and conducting mechanistic studies in the laboratory.
Personal Interests
In his free time Dr. Mielcarek enjoys traveling, hiking, cooking and playing the guitar.
