About Lianne A. Hirano
Lianne Hirano, M.D., is a board certified physician with Palliative Care Services at Harborview and a UW instructor of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine. She also cares for patients as a physician and medical director at Seattle Keiro Rehabilitation and Care Center through the UW Long Term Care Service.
As a palliative care provider and geriatrician, Dr. Hirano has learned it is important to take a holistic approach to medical care. She feels she is not just caring for patients—she is caring for people.
Dr. Hirano earned her M.D. from Yale. She is triple board certified in Geriatric Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine and Internal Medicine. She enjoys being involved in a number of educational activities for UW medical students, residents and fellows in the areas of both palliative care and geriatric medicine. Her clinical and research interests include grief and bereavement, complementary therapies, osteoporosis and delirium.
Personal Interests
In her free time Dr. Hirago enjoys poetry, jewelry-making, hiking, sailing, shopping and spending time with family and friends.
