Laura Amendola, M.S., C.G.C., is a board certified genetic counselor at UWMC's Genetic Medicine Clinic and Center on Human Development and Disability and a UW associate professor of Medical Genetics and Medicine. She is also manager of UW Medicine's New Exome Technology (NEXT) study.
Amendola provides genetic counseling to patients referred to the Genetic Medicine Clinic for a variety of conditions including inherited cancer syndromes and neurogenetic conditions. The NEXT Medicine study is exploring clinical care for patients being evaluated for hereditary colorectal cancer or polyps.
Amendola received her medical education at the University of Texas. Her clinical and research interests include hereditary cancer genetics and other hereditary conditions, genomic sequencing technologies and interpreting the clinical significance of genomic variants and return of results.
In her free time Dr. Amendola enjoys hiking, yoga and volleyball.
